School Update April 20, 2020

Find me on:
“The Lord is my light and my salvation– whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid…I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
       - Psalm 27:1, 13-14
Good afternoon, Faith Family.

I do not have much new to report as we remain in a government-ordered shut down providing education via remote learning.  We continue to work on plans for multiple May scenarios including end-of-the year events and final exams as we await further updates from Governor Sisolak; we will communicate those to you as the future becomes more clear.

I’ve been uplifted and encouraged by people asking how they can help during this pandemic.  We continue to seek financial help for our families who have a sudden, immediate need for tuition assistance because of the closures of many businesses and organizations.  We have also been asked for additional ways to help the Faith Family during this pandemic.  To that end, if you are aware of a charity that is especially focused on helping people during this crisis (e.g. providing food to needy families, supporting medical and frontline personnel, etc.), or if you or someone you care about owns an essential business (e.g. restaurant that is offering take-out meals during this time), please reply to this email.  We will collect that information and then send it back out to the Faith Family.

While this COVID-19 matter is lasting longer than I would have liked (that’s a bit of an understatement; I was ready to resume life as we knew it 48 hours into this ordeal!), the unexpected benefits and opportunities that this time period has offered each of us are refreshing.  Innovative ways of doing things, how we spend our time, our appreciation for relationships with others, a cleaner environment, the understanding that we must work together, seeing anew the beauty of nature, the incomparable American spirit, and God’s unwavering love and faithfulness are just a few of the things that I’ve re-learned in the past five weeks.  I clearly see a future that is brighter and filled with hope for us all and very much look forward to seeing you on the other side of this situation.

Until then,
