MArch 24, 2020 Health Update

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Isaiah 41:10

Good afternoon, Faith Family.

We just finished Day 5 of remote learning.  Hopefully your family is settling in to the “new normal” for the time being.  From what I’m hearing from families and school administrators, most students are doing well online and are attending all of their Zoom meetings with their teachers.  My sincere thanks to our students, parents/guardians, administrators, counselors, staff, and faculty for your resiliency and adaptability during this unique period in our world’s history.

Several items of note:
  1. Governor Sisolak and Nevada Department of Education State Superintendent Ebert have declared that schools are to remain closed until April 16, 2020 so as today, we look forward to seeing our students return on Thursday, April 16, 2020.  We continue to monitor this and will keep you updated if this return date changes.
  2. We recently submitted our plan to the Department of Education for these remote learning days and have been assured that these days do indeed count toward the 180 days of instruction as mandated annually by the state of Nevada.  Among other things, this plan described mode of instruction, weekly schedule, and the tracking of attendance.
  3. By clicking here you can access a webpage that has current information on all coronavirus communications and updates.
  4. You can check the status of upcoming school events and trips by clicking here.
  5. We continue to keep the school office open with essential personnel each school day from 8 am until 3:30 pm.  A directory of all employees and their email addresses can be found by clicking here.
While we much prefer the energy and synergy that comes with teachers, staff, and students interacting daily on campus, we remain committed to our mission of preparing our students even from a distance.  As often interpreted by Westerners, the Chinese word for  crisis comes from combining two characters – one representing “danger” and one representing “opportunity.”  I am grateful to many who are viewing this crisis as an opportunity – an opportunity to learn, to teach, to grow, to create, to connect, to give, to share, and to model what it means to love our neighbors as ourselves.

May God grant you strength, wisdom, courage, discernment, safety, protection, patience, and grace as we live through these uncertain times.

All my best,

Steven J. Buuck, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Ball Goes to Broadway

Posted by Mai Choy on Nov 8, 2019 6:00:00 AM

Mr. Erik Ball is known on campus for his expertise and creativity in the Theater Department as teacher and director for our musicals, but not many know that he worked on a major project this past year.  Dream Big: Rudy Ruettiger Live on Broadway premiered as a one-night-only show on February 11, 2019 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.  The show also featured Faith Lutheran alumni  Jessica Ruettiger '16, current student at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Mr. Ball wrote and produced the show which can now be viewed on Amazon Prime Video and has recently been nominated for a Special Event Regional EMMY award. Read more for our Q&A with him!
